Group Poster Project Reflection
1) Our final poster turned out to be better than we expected. In just a week, our group was able to produce an appealing poster that was presented to the public. Our progress didn’t go as we planned, but the final product is satisfying to me individually. This poster was something that we invested numerous amount of hours in. Thus, we are proud of our work. Everyone definitely put a lot of effort into their posters and there were evidences that they have done a lot of research.
2) I contributed to my group as I was the one who brought the poster home for a period of time and kept it in good shape. Some of the major informations that were used to support our thesis were also taken from my sources. However, I did not contribute much on presenting and defending our posters therefore I strongly believe that I should have contributed more to my group. This was probably due to the insufficiency of communication and understandings amongst each members of the group. To be honest, throughout the assignment, our group did not have the chance to meet up as we had contradicting schedules. This made me realize that communication is the key to success and it is something that I should greatly improve on.
3) One of the challenges that we encountered throughout this poster project was that we were unable to meet up and reflect on the progress that the group had made. As a result, no feedbacks were given and it caused a lot of understandings. Our group implemented the individualism method as each member was expected to recognize their own duties and responsibilities without any guidance. Knowing the fact that I just turned 17 and have only been in the US for few months was considered to be one of my primary challenges. My mindset has not fully developed to a point where college students are supposed to possess and yet I am still in the process of adjusting and transforming into a young adult. Furthermore, I am an extreme introvert therefore even though I had some constructive ideas in my head, most of the time I didn't have the willingness and the courage to express my thoughts. This was one of the barriers that put me through difficulties to contribute for the group.
4) I learnt that communication is a skill that should be practiced in everyday life. Without effective communication, the internal and external structure of a group can face numerous of obstacles that can ultimately lead to its demise. Communication allows each member to fully express themselves. This might be very beneficial during group projects because it provides a room for other members to give constructive feedbacks for improvement. A group will eventually encounter through hard times in achieving success because without communication, there is simply no essential information being transferred that is strongly needed.
5) From this poster project, I have realized that a group success is defined by its members’ determinations. If everyone is motivated and ambitious for success, there will never be challenges that can prevent them from pursuing success. Teamwork is also a main factor which makes a group to be successful because it keeps the team together, a bond which promotes strength and unity. It allows smoother movement towards targets that can help teams to overcome obstacles. There must be a great and responsible leader behind each successful groups.
6) Noticing the work of other group made me feel to be motivated since the amount of effort they put in are clearly depicted through the posters. It gives me a strong ambition to produce an even better poster. For future group projects, we should cooperate and communicate effectively. We have to be supportive among other members instead of generating conflicts. Do not depend heavily on others and each member should be tasked with different responsibilities instead of doing it together as a group.
